Drakensang Online

Kingshill

I wanted to play an online game again and searched the internet for F2P games. In the process, I came across Drakensang Online. Since I played the offline game Drakensang and Drakensang – At the River of Time, I thought, you won’t go that much wrong with the game.

So I registered an account. I was a bit surprised that right after creating it I could log in, create the character and start playing. The game is designed as a browser game.

So character class there are Circle Mage, Dragon Warrior and Ranger. But you are not allowed to choose a race. *WTF?* But you could do that in Drakensang without any problems. Well, then without a special race choice.

The first minutes of the game were exhausting. The game is very small in the browser. Fortunately there was a full screen mode. But oh horror, the graphics were totally pixelated. Luckily I found the setting to load better textures from the server. This made the game in fullscreen mode acceptable again. But since the textures were always loaded from the server, this had an immense disadvantage when you switched to another zone. It always took a moment until everything was loaded.

That’s how I played through the first missions. However, I had the feeling that the game had little to do with the offline game Drakensang. Everything was unfamiliar to me. Well, I thought, I don’t know much about DSA now. Maybe it’s just a different part of the world.

The level-ups went briskly along, but somehow I couldn’t skill my character. It automatically gave life, mana and more damage on a level-up. Frustrated by this, I searched forums and found out that Drakensang Online had nothing to do with Drakensang and nothing to do with DSA. So if you’re expecting a DSA game like me, you should leave it alone.
